it was the middle of the night, when it happened, 3am on 14th of
february. those who were awake heard it, those who were asleep awoke
and then they too heard it. a voice, that reached out, and entered
minds all over the city.

where are you. i love you.

people looked at each other. what was that. they asked. whats going
on. they asked. people phoned each other. shared theories. told each
other how they felt. then again.

where are you. i love you.

and the city shook. the people looked at each other. they rushed to
their windows. the city shook. buildings at the centre started to
crumble. people further away saw glimpses of something huge moving.
people closer screamed and cried.

where are you.

the crumbling buildings rippled outwards. and panic and horror rippled
with it. more people screamed. and more people cried. and people took
to the streets. and they added running to their screaming and crying.

i love you.

the people felt loved. and terrified. mainly terrified. as they gave
up on the screaming. and concentrated on the running. the thing moved
around, offering more glimpses. lots of reds and purples. pulsing and
heaving. the huge thing that loved, that declared love, that would
destroy a city with its love.

where are you. i love you.

as it got further out, it caught up with running people, and screaming
people, and crying people. and they were appalled. they looked upon
the horror. and knew not what to make of it. it was as big as a
building, with its vessels, and chambers, and its love. it was in
fact, they all agreed the biggest heart they had ever seen.

where are you. i love you.

people spread the word. of the biggest heart they had ever seen. and
generally, they were either crushed to death by the biggest heart they
had ever seen, or they ran away from the biggest heart that they had
ever seen. but no one, at least of those who lived, could say,
exactly, who or what the heart loved. nor could they say whether the
heart found who or what.

where are you. i love you.

but in the process. the city was destroyed. razed to the ground. when
people went back, days after. there was no sign of the heart. only the
rubble. and the dead.

where are you. i love you.
